Cours Saleya Market

Cours Saleya Market in Nice, France is known for its daily flowers, but also represents fresh produce, fish, breads, candy and artwork.

It was my morning routine to visit the market and hand select the ingredients for our breakfast, it was only a few convenient blocks away.  By day 3 I felt like a local with my basket in one hand, but still a tourist with my camera in the other.  I never went to the market without a device in hopes of capturing some of my favorite little life moments to share with you.  We knew how special Nice was because we had visited in 2011 for too short of a time.  Some cities hit us just right and an appreciation for them continues to grow long after we leave.  I hope you can feel the heartbeat of the market through a few photos.

I watched these two ladies, imagining that they were mother and daughter, for several minutes as they carefully picked out their produce.  The younger of the two was patiently assisting, allowing her mother to take her time as she seemed very selective.  After the final decision, the mother appeared very content–and finally the exchange of money…..

Look at that sweet smile.
