A few extra minutes in the morning allowed us time to peek inside this Catholic Church. First what caught our attention was the church cemetery that surrounded the whole parish. Most markers were very elaborate. At a glance some of the dates were early 1800’s buts also some as late as 2012. They all had well kept flower beds in front of them.
The outside of the church so simple yet the inside very ornate. The church was consecrated in 1749. The statues of St. Joseph, St. Peter, St. Paul and St. Joachim tower over the altar.
A beautifully detailed fresco of the martyrdom of the church patrons Sts. Peter and
Paul.
The focal points are the Apostles’ Farewell and their imprisonment in the Marmertine Prison in Rome, Their execution : St. Peter by the cross and St. Paul by the sword. The Triumph of the saints in the heavenly kingdom.
I can see how people could enjoy studying church history, it’s very interesting to read about. Everything in the fresco had a significance and told part of a story.

How will you ever return to such a slower pace? 🙂 Glad you are off the mountain I was getting sick! Beatrice lost to Omaha skutt and Nebraska had a great opening game on Saturday. Stay safe! Beth

The pace is much slower here and that we love. We visited with a military family and that is one of the aspects they love most about living in Germany.
Thank you for the game updates!

Hello Rash Family! I finally got all caught up today on your blogs. Wow, Bly, you communicate so well by word and picture. Pulled out my atlas to see where you are at. I am enjoying following along. Can’t believe how quickly the time is passing.
