Many people ask us how do we get around Europe. The Audi European Delivery Program allows us to purchase a new vehicle, drive it all over Europe, have it shipped home and then sell it. Sounds pretty fancy, I know. It is actually the most economical way for a family of six to safely travel for an extended time as opposed to using the train or renting a van.
The Audi plant is in Ingolstadt, just 45 minutes north of Munich. We were picked up at the airport and hauled, at no less than 100 mph, to our first destination.
We are treated like royalty upon our arrival. 150 Audi’s were being picked up by new owners that day and that is during the slow season of August. It is typically a shocking 300 per day. The Ingolstadt plant covers 2,700,000 square meters and employs 37,000 people!
It was interesting to see hundreds of employees come out for their break. All standing out in the fresh air, visiting with one another but the biggest surprise was there was only one person on a cell phone, quite refreshing.
